Cougar Softball Stadium

The much-anticipated addition to Cougar Softball, Houston's youngest intercollegiate athletic program, was the completion of Cougar Softball Stadium prior to the 2002 season. The $2.4 million complex sports home locker rooms, laundry facilities and a press box which includes separate radio and television booths. The NCAA-regulation field has a top-quality infield and outfield, and seats up to 1,200 softball fans in comfortable chairback seating in the lower bowl, concessions areas and accessible parking.

Located next to the Carl Lewis Complex on the corner of Scott and Elgin Streets on the UH campus, Cougar Softball Field was made possible through the generous donation of UH alumni John and Rebecca Moores.

SEATING CAPACITY | Cougar Softball Stadium holds a seating capacity of 1,200 fans, but can accommodate up to 2,000 fans with a pair of grass berm areas located along the outfield lines and a party patio on the first base side. A canopy red roof covers the upper seats, shading fans during the hot Houston months. The all-time best crowd of 1,793 came against No. 4 Alabama in March 2014.

HANDICAPPED ACCESIBLE | The stadium is equipped and handicapped accessible, providing 35 seating spaces for wheelchairs along the concourse level. Seating and access for handicapped fans are convenient with two wide ramps located on each side of the park. Netting encompasses the reserved seating, so fans can be close to the action, yet safe from foul balls.

BATTING CAGES | During practice and before games, the Cougars can take advantage of the covered batting cages, located along the east of the stadium.

CLUBHOUSE | Cougar Softball Stadium also houses the Cougars' clubhouse, which includes large, professional-style locker rooms for the players and coaching staff. The clubhouse recently underwent renovations prior to the 2015 season with newly installed wooden lockers and removed the old carpet. Current players enjoy the luxury of flat screen TVs and a dining and lounge area for off-the-field comfort.

PRESS BOX | Located on the upper deck behind home plate is one of the best college press boxes in the country. The press box features booths for radio and television, a 28-seat working press area for writers and ample room to operate the public address and scoreboard. Accommodating the media is an important criteria for Houston to host future NCAA Regional events.

RECENT RENOVATIONS | Cougar Softball Stadium has undergone several renovations, enhancing the overall look and players facilities. Prior to the 2015 season, Houston Athletics' replaced all seats in the lower bowl with brand new chairbacks and cup holders.

POST-SEASON PLAY | Cougar Softball Stadium has hosted one NCAA Regionals, one Super Regional and two C-USA Championships and the inaugural American Athletic Conference Tournament over the last 15 seasons.
